Why Donuts?

Well, I found a vintage Michigan Alumni magazine which told the tale of a real live wolverine who was the U-M mascot. He appeared in his cage at football games, then finally took up residence in the university museum’s little zoo.  In spite of the feisty beast’s  fierce disposition at football games he had a gentler side, only discovered when the wolverine’s keeper at the zoo gave him bits of donuts, and he loved them!

Read the whole story here in Google Books:  “Michigan’s Wolverine: His Growl Was Worse Than His Bite.”

So that’s the Wolverine’s tale!
